Today's Reading: Num. 10-11; Ps. 27; Mark 1

What is the deepest desire of your heart?
In our reading from the Psalms today, we see the one thing that David desired (above all else). It was "to
dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple." David knew that abiding with God, seeking Him, communing with Him, was the one thing necessary in life.

We live in a day and age where people seek out many things they think are necessary. Some see coffee as necessary for survival (ok, I tend to agree with this one :) Others see achievement, fame, fortune, companionship as necessary for their happiness or contentment. But, God wants each of us to have hearts ablaze with passion for Him alone! So much so that we could echo David's words, "Oh Heavenly Father, when it really comes down to what is important, there is only one thing that I need, and that is Your Presence, Your Friendship, Your Love."

Lord, as I focus my heart on the extravagent love You have for me, I thank you for Your Presence, and I know that You are the one thing I need in my life!

How beautiful it is when brethren dwell together in unity! Dwelling in the house of the Lord is beautiful and breeds beautiful results. In God's house we learn not only to be spectators of His Glory but to also be active and take part in what He is doing. When I read Mark 1:41-45 today I was moved and amazed by the example Jesus set for us. The leper was covered in pain, humiliation, guilt and condemnation. He cried out and said" Lord if you are willing, you can cleanse me". Jesus was deeply moved. What if Jesus just stopped at being deeply moved and did not take action? The story would have begun and ended right there; there would have been no miracle. The blessing and healing came when Jesus was moved to the point of action, stuck out his hand and healed the leper. How many lepers are there amongst us. There are people who are hurting today just like the leper was over 2000 years ago. God has spoken to me and said" it is time to get out of spectator Christianity and take part in the game". God also told me" it is not enough to WANT to do; you need to DO". Think of the story like this: In Texas there is nothing like a football game. People from all over come to watch some guys struggle over pigskin. The spectators are excited[and filled with deep emotion] they cheer, shout and celebrate for their team. However, the people who actually feel and sense the most reward are those who actively participate in some part of the game. Don't say you have nothing to offer, you do! Even the water boy has a purpose! God wants us to transition  from being deeply moved to reaching out and touching someone else. Then miracles will take place.........
I love that David went a step further than just wanting the presence of God, but he wanted to seek God IN the HOUSE of God all the days of his life.  I believe the psalmist is saying, seek God ALL the days of your life in the house of God and when you do- you will see the beauty of God.  The church was Jesus passion, what he died for and definately what I want to give my life, passion, strength, breath, days, years for. It's His expression on the earth.  My hearts desire is that as we look like the church He desires!
