Today's reading: Num. 30-31; Mark 9
The father of the sick boy says to Jesus "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" How often do we find ourselves in the same situation. We know that God is capable of everything, and yet we sometimes doubt or have unbelief that He will come through in our specific situation. Even though the father struggled with unbelief, Jesus once again showed his power over this situation and healed the boy!

Jesus, I thank you that all things are possible through you. Help us in any area of our lives where we are struggling to fully trust You. Amen!
Fire and Water

Good word, Kelly!
It’s interesting to me that the very elements of fire and water that the demon uses to torment and attempt to kill the boy (Mark 9:22) are those that God uses to purify the spoils captured by Israel (Num 31:21-23). In life’s most challenging situations – when we feel in the midst of extreme heat or drowning in a sea of concerns – we can either succumb to torment or choose to earnestly seek God’s refinement in the process.
As followers of Christ, let us exercise assurance in these life challenges! God says we are a people belonging to Him (1 Pet 2:9); just like the gold and silver of the Israelites, we are His treasure, positioned for the process of refinement. What awesome assurance! We are not meant to live tormented or barely surviving the fires and waters of life. We are God’s treasure and will emerge from the fire and water purified and strong.
Lord, I follow your command in the process. Refine, purify, strengthen me. I trust you. Amen.
