Today's reading: Deut. 1-2; Mark 12
"They all gave out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." -Mark 12:44
"They all gave out of their wealth, but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on." -Mark 12:44
Worth only a fraction of a penny, Jesus sees this woman give her very last to the Kingdom of God. A gesture embodying true sacrifice, she was not concerned with being inconvenienced or not knowing what would come next. Just as Christine Caine shared with us, living for the Kingdom is going to cause us to be uncomfortable and out of the "safe" zone. Whether it's with our time, money or resources, we must be committed to being the love of Christ out of a place of sacrifice--not just our abundance.
Lord, thank you for blessing us with so much to give. Please remove our selfish desires that we may love like you love--sacrificing ourselves for the sake of the cross.
Deut 1 - Now faith

When the Israelites tried to follow God, they just didn't have enough faith (Num 13). He describes them as not trusting Him, grumbling and whining in their tents saying that they missed the melons and vegetables of Egypt. They proclaimed that God hated them and that's why He took them into the wilderness - to die. Even after all those miracles! How many times have we confronted God, grumbling and whining about something even after He's done so much for us? Each time we reach a place of 'now faith' (Hebrews 11:1) where we must choose once again to trust Him, gird up our loins (or suck it up, in modern language) and choose to believe He'll not leave us or forsake us. What do we get in return? The completion and fulfillment of the vision, destiny or word that He has for us. Awesome! Carol
